Christmas Is Here Again

Pacific Conservatory Theatre
Director:  Roger DeLaurier
Costume Designer:  Marcy Froehlich

This was a world premiere musical about a young orphan girl and her journey to save Christmas from the evil elf Krad and restore Santa's missing magic toy sack.  Along the way she meets many iconic Christmas objects that help her on her adventures.  Based on Renegade Animation's animated film of the same name.

Christmas Ornament headpiece & body:  In this production, during the Ornament Ballet we meet a Christmas tree ornament.  I created the headpiece out of 1/4" L200 foam.  Silver lame' fabric was glued to the foam, then all the pieces were sewn together.  The finished headpiece velcroed to a white lycra hood worn by the actor.

For the body we paper-mached strips of muslin over a yoga ball, then covered that with a layer of Wonderflex thermoplastic.  I created shoulder straps out of lycra-covered 2" elastic that were riveted onto the body.  The top and bottom openings were bound with strips of 1/8" L200 foam.  Final paint treatments created the finished look.
